41 Vietnamese skilled workers arrived at Romania on January 31st

3 months after qualifying from the trade test with G.M representative in Hanoi, 41 Vietnamese workers finished all their pre-departure documents to Romania with support from Vietnam Manpower recruitment agency. It was a very good temporary solution for G.M - yet in the context of labor crisis in Romania, hiring foreign workers is a solution backed up by the Government. Last September, at the AHK Romania proposal, a meeting of four ministers - the Ministry of Labor, Foreign Affairs, Internal Affairs and Education Ministry - came up with a solution for labor shortage: “In a short term, we see foreigners as a support. Education is the medium and long term solution.”

Warmly welcomed by G.M company’s representative, they quickly adapted with new environment and were on their way to do a medical checkup and a test to receive international welding certificate, also a residence permit for 2 years in Romania. As expected, the workers would officially work at G.M factory from February 5th.

As interview with the workers, most of them had experience working abroad in Malaysia and Gulf countries. That’s why they found no difficulties with being far away from home and easily getting familiar with world-class machinery in G.M factory. For some inconveniences such as food and weather, the workers said they could cook by themselves and not hesitate of the cold winter in Romania, “as long as the heating in both factory and dormitory function well, we are still good”.

On the first day at work, all the welders had to join a skill test with G.M manager. They performed so well that their manager gave very good compliment. Here are some pictures of the skill test:
